After Anathea left, Vincent called the butler in his room.
Vincent: Had she left the house?
Butler: Yes, sire.
Vincent: Good. Where is our visitor?
Butler: Well, he asked earlier where the library is. Probably he’s there.
Vincent: Bring him to me.
The butler went to the library. There he found Mico reading a book. His instincts never fail him.
Butler: Excuse me. Lord Vincent wants to have a word with you.
Mico: Is it me you’re talking to?
Butler: Who else? There are only the two of us in this room.
Mico: I’m sorry. I’m too immersed in what I’m reading awhile ago. What did you say again?
Butler: Lord Vincent wants to have a word with you.
Mico: Me?
Butler: Yes, you.
Mico: I’ll just put this book back on its shelf.
Butler: Leave it there. I’ll just take care of it later.
The butler accompanied Mico to the room of Vincent. The butler is bothered. Why would Lord Vincent want to talk to Mico? The butler was hoping that his master would drive him away to the streets. He doesn’t like strangers. They always cause troubles.
A knock was heard…
Vincent: Come in.
Mico: Good afternoon.
Vincent: Take a seat.
Mico: Thank you.
Vincent: Don’t worry. I’ll not feed you to the lions.
Mico: What can I do for you?
Vincent: I was hoping you can help me.
Mico: Help you?
Vincent: Read the letter on the table.
Mico was so shocked with what he had just read. He couldn’t believe with his eyes.
Mico: God! This is unbelievable.
Vincent: That letter is a secret between the two of us. We are the only ones who about that letter. Don’t mention it to my daughter.
Mico: I think she has the right to know.
Vincent: Maybe later. But not now, let’s keep it first by ourselves.
Mico: But why are you telling this to me?
Vincent: I know you could help me. You are the first person that got into my mind when I thought of my daughter’s safety.
Mico: So, how can I help you?
Vincent: Take care of her for me.
Mico: Do you already have an idea who would want to kill your daughter?
Vincent: I don’t know who in particular but I’m quite sure the reason why.
Mico: Then why?
Vincent: The king and queen want her to be their successor.
Mico: Why do you say so?
Vincent: many of their nieces and nephews are jealous of Anathea. I can’t blame them. I know that it is unfair for them since my daughter doesn’t have any blood relation to the king and queen but I also know that my daughter is worthy of the position.
Mico: So what should I do?
Vincent: Go with her anywhere she goes.
Mico: But how..?
Vincent: Let me handle that.
Mico: I’m very thankful that you entrusted your daughter’s life with me.
Vincent: I trust you so please don’t fail me.
Mico: I promise.
Silence was all over the place. Mico has got something to say. He cleared his throat and started.
Mico: I’ve got something to say to you.
Vincent: I’m listening.
Mico: Please don’t tell anything to Anathea about what I will say.
Vincent: Okay.
He told Vincent about his past. Everything that had caused to him to fled. The questions that is stuck in his mind. Vincent eagerly listened to what Mico is saying. Vincent just listened. He didn’t give any reaction or comment until Mico is finished.
Mico: That’s the end of the story.
Vincent: Very interesting.
Mico: Do you still trust me?
Vincent: Yes. And it didn’t change even a bit.
Mico: Thank you for listening and for your trust.
Vincent: You’re welcome.
